For centuries, waves of Turkish and Greek invaders swept over the region. In the 15th and 16th centuries, Romanian peasants built monasteries to face off against them: their bells were to announce the arrival of the enemies. The documentary makes the viewer visit such monasteries as Arbor, Umor, Moldavitza, Souchertza..., whose fresco-ed walls evoke the history of those great invasions.
